If you’re anything like me and you don’t like to spend a lot on your trips yet always want to go somewhere (guess you can call this the bad and bougie of travelling. Maybe??) Well these are some tips that I use when boking my trips. My goal is to maximize my time to see and experience as much as I can while staying within my budget
- Overnight flight
Overnight flights are usually cheaper.
If you are the type of person who typical get any rest in flight this might not be the best idea for you. It is very important that you get some type of rest during this flight. It’s like you got to bed at night and wake up the next morning ready to go. Flying during the day takes away from your adventure time which you want to maximize especially during a short trip.
- Long layovers
Layovers are usually cheaper than direct flights
This might be sound like a no brainer but many people do not like long flight and layovers. I understand the sitting at the airport for hours waiting for your next flight is very tiring and not a fun experience. But this not the long layovers that I’m talking about. You will need at least 24 hours. So you’re all rest on your flight therefore you have a full day to explore that city. Do your research ahead of time and be ready to hit the ground running. Yes you will spend money on this one day adventure but in most cases it will be much cheaper than book a separate trip there.
- Catch a Ferry
Some small islands in particular they can catch ferries between islands which are very inexpensive because these are mainly used by the locals. These rides are usually within an hour so its quick and you get to enjoy the benefits of being on water. If you get sea sick be prepared or try another.
- Catch a train
Whether catching a train from New York to Boston, Rome to Milan or France to Spain trains can really be a great from one city or country to another. In some cases it can to as expensive as a flight so make sure you’re always comparing.
- Can’t go wrong with a bus ride
Bus rides usually time consuming but is the most cost effective method to get from one city to the next in most cases. Based on how many days you have avoid the long bus rides because it would not be worth it. But if you can and want to fit it into your schedule definitely travel at overnight (of course)
